About the Club

The Techno-Club at the Center for Interdisciplinary Women's and Gender Research at the TU Berlin aims to reach girls in the eleventh and twelfth grades. The current programming of the Techno-Club combines school visits made by university students with a semester-long series of events and working groups (AG) for girls. These take place in the laboratories, testing grounds, lecture halls and other locations of the TU Berlin. A more specific description of the Techno-Club can be found here.

Female Students Visit Berlin Schools

In order to give girls some insight into life after high school, female university students visit Berlin high schools. They report on their own experiences from daily life as a student at the TU Berlin and discuss various career paths with the girls. Additionally, they present the Techno-Club series called “The Student Experiment: Is college for me? Why not?!” The Techno-Club visits Berlin high schools which have a college preparatory track before the start of the semester (for four weeks after summer vacation and for four weeks before Easter vacation). If you are interested in becoming a partner school, you can apply here to make use of our programming:

The list of cooperating partner schools of the Techno-Club can be found here.

“The Student Experiment: Is college for me? Why not?!” Event Series for Girls at the TU Berlin

Here we don't just talk about going to college, we try it out ourselves! Activities include conducting experiments together in a working group for girls (AG), conducting research in laboratories and on testing grounds, exploring the university campus and learning about and how to use important spaces like the university library and student advising. The “Student Experiment” starts directly after school visits at the start of the semester. Events take place over the course of the semester. The complete list of Techno-Club events for the Winter Semester 2011/2012 can be found here.
